Note: When using Donation Platform for WooCommerce, there is currently no built-in integration with Subscriptions For WooCommerce Pro by WP Swings. While the two plugins may still work together, we’re unable to provide support for issues related to that premium plugin because it is developed and maintained independently by WP Swings.
Recurring Donations with Subscriptions for WooCommerce (free plugin)
Subscriptions for WooCommerce (free plugin) supports Stripe and PayPal payment Gateway. The free version does not support variable subscription products.
- Install Subscriptions for WooCommerce (free plugin): https://wordpress.org/plugins/subscriptions-for-woocommerce/
- Set up Subscriptions for WooCommerce according to the instructions
- activate “Virtual” & “Subscription” & “Donation Product”
- make sure “simple product” is selected
- navigate to the Tab “Subscription Settings” and set up the schedule
Subscriptions for WooCommerce (free plugin) does NOT support variable subscription products. This means is does not support having multiple donation schedules (e.g. one-time, monthly, …) for the users to choose from in a single product.
Recurring Donations with WooCommerce Subscriptions (premium plugin)
WooCommerce Subscriptions is a premium extension for WooCommerce, licensed under the GNU General Public License Version 3. This means you can legally download it for free from various online sources, such as this GitHub repository (or directly from this zip file). However, for access to support and updates, it is recommended to purchase the plugin from the WooCommerce Store. WooCommerce Subscriptions supports over 25 payment gateways for automatic recurring donations.

You can use a simple subscription (only one donation schedule) or variable subscription (multiple payment intervals).
Simple Regular Donation (Simple Subscription – One Donation Schedule)
- Install WooCommerce Subscriptions (premium plugin): https://woocommerce.com/de-de/products/woocommerce-subscriptions/
- Add a new WooCommerce product.
- Make it virtual and donable. Under Product data, select “Simple subscription”.
- Set any subscription price and subscription schedule. The subsequent donation amount must be set, but is otherwise irrelevant as it will be overwritten by the donor later.
- Under “Donation Form”, adjust the settings of the donation form according to your wishes.
